EDITORS’ NOTE

“The new issue offered our team the opportunity to delve into a certain aspect of high art that we personally appreciate, as well as to collect abundant masterpieces and other alluring minor works from the unique viewpoint that all of these reveal something that, in spite of certain ideals, should not: sensuality. In this quest, we tried to gather here different facets of Love and different levels of eroticism. It depicts several European canons of human physical beauty, with lots of Spranger and lots of Fragonard. Sensual wavy mythology is plentiful, but there will be every once in a while simple parallelisms and metaphors, such as the examples of a few flowers and still lifes. Past contributors have shared their cultivated eloquence once again: Sebastiano Bazzichetto introduces us to the element of desire in European painting and sculpture and to the concepts of modesty and shame, which amusingly would be the first contradictions to our chosen subjects and thus required to feature. Tiago Lorga arrests his readers with descriptions of Greek mythological romances and dramas with a stirring tone. Cristina Neiva Correia meditates on a sumptuous Sèvres porcelain service that has been styled with different Amors. With this Carnet, that we trust is both picante and chic, let yourself be inspired. It is our love letter to the reader.”
